Disposable toothbrush aims to keep both teeth and planet clean

Twice a day many of us clean our teeth with a plastic toothbrush - which when thrown away can end up in the ocean.

Now Ukrainian start-up Effa is offering a sustainable alternative. Effa is a disposable toothbrush made of recycled paper.

"To be honest, it does not differ at all. It's like a regular toothbrush. Brushing is the same, but we are focused on ecology."

Processed paper is molded into shape and covered in a thin layer of organic plastic. The bristles are made from upgraded nylon - which breaks down faster than regular nylon, according to the developers.

The team says Effa would be great for eco-minded travelers and at least one hotel chain is

considering introducing them.

"If you imagine like two kilograms of plastic each month and you just throw it away. And if you imagine that you are doing that and your neighbors are doing that, that your business partner is doing that, everybody is doing that in the same city, in the same country, in our planet and it's just endless.”

The team wants Effa machines in every airport and are planning to develop travel and medical kits made of recycled paper.

이제 우크라이나 신생 기업인 Effa가 지속 가능한 대안을 제시하고 있습니다. 에파는 재활용 종이로 만들어진 일회용 칫솔입니다

"솔직히 말해서, 이 칫솔 Effa는 다른 게 없어요. 보통 칫솔과 동일합니다. 칫솔질은 같지만 저희 회사에서는 생태학적으로 접근했죠. "

가공된 종이를 틀에 넣어 모양을 잡고 얇은 유기 플라스틱 막으로 코팅 처리합니다. 칫솔모는 개발진에 의하면, 일반 나일론보다 더 빨리 분해되는 업그레이드된 나일론으로 만들어집니다.

개발팀은 Effa가 친환경적 여행객에게는 훌륭한 제품이라고 언급하면서, 최소 한 군데 이상의 호텔 체인이 이 칫솔을 사용하려고 합니다.

"매월 2kg의 플라스틱을 사용 후 버린다고 상상해 본다면, 거기에 여러분과 이웃들, 거래 업체들 모든 사람들이 같은 도시에서, 나라에서, 전 세계에서 이렇게 쓴다면 끝이 없을 겁니다.”

연구팀은 Effa를 모든 공항 자판기에서 판매하기를 바라며, 재활용 종이로 만든 여행 의료킷을 개발할 계획입니다.
